Dethkills got the chance recently to work with an amazing organization called HomeAid. HomeAid is a charitable non-profit organization that builds and renovates shelters for those who find themselves homeless due to sudden job loss, catastrophic illness, spousal desertion and domestic violence. We were invited to paint live at a charity event in Orange County to help raise money for the fight against homelessness. Charity attendees were invited to participate by writing messages of hope and encouragement on paper that we transferred to the paintings, in the traditional DK style. The paintings will be hung in 2 of HomeAids shelters and hopefully those words will bring a smile to some less fortunate. Be thankful for what you have.

What a great night! French, Derek Albeck and Dethkills showed some art work and we got to hang with a bunch of people we haven’t seen in a long time. If you are ever in Little Tokyo stop by No.A, it’s a great boutique clothing store. Thank you Nate for having us.

Here are the pics from the live painting and t-shirt screening at the Culture Collide Fest. Check out Chris’s Dickies bringin’ it back to ’98 with a one roll cuff and hard ass crease. Bomb. Thanks to everyone at Filter for a wonderful weekend, everyone who wandered in aimlessly in search of their tickets and left with a t-shirt and Grill ‘Em All for soaking their onions in beer. Oh, and start marking off that calendar. Only one month and counting until our solo show at the POV Gallery in Chinatown. Check back for the details, lords.

10/10/10 marks the release show for Gas Lamp Killers new EP Death Gate. The new EP is out on Flying Lotus’ Brainfeeder Records and is available in a limited-edition private press 10″ vinyl and digital formats. Dethkills got the chance along with some other amazing artists to create a t-shirt design that will be printed live by Hit+Run at the album release show. Here is a sneak peak of the DETHKILLS x GLK t-shirt design available at the show.

Thanks to everyone who joined us for a great time. Special thanks to Insight, Filter, Vagabagabond, Love Made, Nika Water, Thalia Surf Shop and of course AsiaDog. Heartburn never tasted so good. For those of you caught slippin’ who didn’t make it out, you missed a preview of two pieces that will be showcased at our upcoming solo show in November at the POV Gallery. Be on the look out for more information coming soon.

Thanks to everyone that came and helped us out and thanks to everyone who sent in the positive messages that made up the paintings. Check out Invisible Children if you don’t know about what they do.

Thank you to everyone that put on the event, all the people that sent us messages to make the paintings out of, all of our friends that came along to help us out and of course everyone that bought the paintings. We were able to raise some money for Invisible Children. They do a lot of great things so it felt good to give back a little. Unfortunately we were all painting pretty much non stop for 6 hours to get the paintings finish so we didn’t get too many pictures of the event but we have some coming our way thanks to our good friend Jon who shot the shit out of the event. Visit invisiblechildren.com for a much better recap.

We meet up with Insight at there booth/room they had at the Agenda Tradeshow to do some live painting. As always we had a blast with those doods. The painting was more detailed and sorta hectic to do. The words this time were a lot smaller and everything was a lot tighter than usual. We thought it was a step in the right direction for us as far as progressing our style is concerned. If your not changing your not trying.
