The Dethkills wall that we did in downtown came up on the last episode of Lie To Me starring Tim Roth. I took a video clip of it from my computer cause I couldn’t find a short clip of it on the world wide web but peep it out. Sickness!
We are collaborating with Los Angeles Pizza to have our very own pizza on the menu. We went down last night to figure out what exactly we wanted to do and I got to make the pizza, it ruled. The Dethkills pizza has marinara sauce, garlic, cheese, goat cheese, sausage, jalapeño, onions, and fresh basil….yummm. The pizza will be delivered in a limited box, designed and hand printed by us. We will be throwing a party at the end of november in celebration of the Dethkills signature pizza. If you have never had Los Angeles Pizza then you should probably get on it. They are located on Sunset and Figueroa. Peep the menu at losangelespizzacompany.com. It’s good stuff.

Grady Gordon sent us an email today with some pictures of his new work and it kills. Grady lives up in the bay area and works as a teacher. He was a part of Deth To False Everything Issue II. When it comes to monotype printing he is the man. In December Grady is gonna bring his press down and teach us how to do monotype prints. We can’t wait. We are gonna document the process for the next zine that is gonna come out in January. Check out more of his work at gradygordon.com.

Justin Searles is an extremely talented painter and graphic designer. He has a show coming up next weekend on Oct. 24th at San Clemente Art Supply located at 1531 N. El Camino Real. He will be showing new paintings that we can’t wait to see. He sent us a little teaser along with some answers to a few questions we had. If you are in the area come by.

What mediums do you typically use to create your work?
Right now a lot of mixed media stuff. Mostly newspapers and scratch paper I find around town, any kind of loose house paint, and images I make and distort off the computer. I gesso transfer the images, the “poor man’s silkscreen” as I like to call it.
What subject matters do you use for your paintings and why?
I pull from all class systems: images of rich and poor, good and evil, people who have it all and those with nothing. I see a world and a society that is sick and diseased in need of a Savior.

Coffee
Who or what are some of you influences?
Old punk rock flyers will always be my first influence as far as aesthetics. A lot of people, places, and things have come and gone as influences, but right now I think just being vulnerable and taking risks again are my influences. It’s been a while since I’ve done any art.
What’s your favorite band?
NASUM
What kind of music do you listen to while you work?
Right now I put the ipod on shuffle and paint accordingly.
Who is your favorite baseball team? Predictions for the world series?

Lastly, any words of advice?
John 15:13- “Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends.”
Blackout Party recently finished their full length album Bottom Of The Sea and it’s really good and really free to download. Brian has been one of my best friends for a long time now and I have watched him grow as musician. He gets better and better as time goes on and if you do not go to blackoutpartymusic.com and simply put in your email address to download the album for free you are making a huge mistake.
Derek Albeck and friends are currently exhibiting at 111 Minna in San Francisco. The show opened last week and by the looks of the photos we are pretty bummed we couldn’t get up there for it. Check it out for yourself at www.fecalface.com

We all headed down to the Scion gallery in Culver City for the closing party/art auction for Installation 5. It was a traveling art show that Scion curated and it went around the country. The theme of the show was self portraits. We all had loads of fun thanks to the free beer and food and there was some pretty good art work being shown. Frenchs piece ruled. One big “fuck off”. After the show we all ended up at Mandrakes, a bar down the street. I told French that I would make him some shirts to take back to London but didn’t have enough time to do it. So before I left the bar to go down to San Diego for the Chargers game I gave him the shirt off my back. I walked out of the bar and the door guy said I couldn’t go back in because I was shirtless. I told him it was all good cause I was leaving anyway, then he looked and me and said you might want to think about going to the gym or start doing some sit ups….hahahaha!
