For the last few Agendas we have been doing live paintings during the show. They always seem to go over well with the people that are attending. Our method of painting is real tedious, as we are making pictures out of words, so it takes a nice little group of us to knock a painting out in a couple days. The painting below was worked on by 5 people over a 2 day period. Before we knew it we were buffing out the finished product with black paint only to shamelessly self-promote ourselves. Figuring it would be a decent idea to record what we were doing so we could make a video of it we did. Then just like painting black over a newly finished piece we thought it would be a good idea to delete the video we had just recorded. So we did. Derek feels bad. You can tell by the look on his face in the photo below. Oh well. We still had fun.

So part of embracing this DIY mentality that we are always talking about is actually DOING EVERYTHING YOURSELF. That leads to super hectic, sleepless nights because we thought we could get everything done quicker than we actually could get it done. In this case it was getting ready for the Agenda Tradeshow. Good thing there was a bunch of amp energy laying around the studio. We got everything done with a hour to spare before we had to leave for Huntington Beach so we all slept for 45 min. Bomb.

Dethkills participated in the POV Evolving Gallery group show for their one year anniversary. All together it was a pretty solid show. The show will be up until August 5th. We have a prints for sale out of the gallery for a more than reasonable price so go get them. The edition is out of 10 and is the first picture you see.

Dash has joined the epic crew of people that have died before 30. His artwork is an inspiration to many and will be missed but never foregotten. Snow’s photographic work is in a thematically similar mode to photographers Nan Goldin, Larry Clark, Ryan McGinley and Richard Billingham, often depicting scenes of a candid or illicit nature. Instances of sex, drug taking, violence and art-world pretentiousness are documented with disarming frankness and honesty, offering insight into the decadent lifestyle increasingly associated with young New York City artists and their social circles.
Some of Snow’s recent collage-based work was characterized by the controversial practice of using his own semen as a material applied to or splashed across newspaper photographs of police officers and other authority figures. However, the suggestive nature of such works did not prevent them from being acquired by influential collectors such as Charles Saatchi. Rest In Peace.dash-snow

So we painted live at the Coachella Filter Party this year and we’re excited to see the recap in latest issue of Filter. I asked my buddy who works over there what was up with the latest issue cause i wanted to see it. He just looked at me and said you are gonna be soo bummed. I instantly knew that we didn’t get our picture in the mag and to be honest was a little bummed untill i saw the picture that went in place of ours. Mr. Blau himself being the man as always with two heinekin girls. Once i saw that everything was fine. Classic. For those of you that haven’t seen the painting yet here you go.filter-recapfilter-painting

We aren’t cool enough to get a mention on the flyer but we will be showing a couple pieces at the POV One Year Anniversary show and are super stoked to be a part of it. It coincides with the Chinatown Art Night so it should be a good time. Try and make it out if you can. POVevolving Gallery. 939 Chung King Road. 90012. 6-10pm.
