Justin Searles is an extremely talented painter and graphic designer. He has a show coming up next weekend on Oct. 24th at San Clemente Art Supply located at 1531 N. El Camino Real. He will be showing new paintings that we can’t wait to see. He sent us a little teaser along with some answers to a few questions we had. If you are in the area come by.

What mediums do you typically use to create your work?
Right now a lot of mixed media stuff. Mostly newspapers and scratch paper I find around town, any kind of loose house paint, and images I make and distort off the computer. I gesso transfer the images, the “poor man’s silkscreen” as I like to call it.
What subject matters do you use for your paintings and why?
I pull from all class systems: images of rich and poor, good and evil, people who have it all and those with nothing. I see a world and a society that is sick and diseased in need of a Savior.
Coffee or tea?
Coffee
Who or what are some of you influences?
Old punk rock flyers will always be my first influence as far as aesthetics. A lot of people, places, and things have come and gone as influences, but right now I think just being vulnerable and taking risks again are my influences. It’s been a while since I’ve done any art.
What’s your favorite band?
NASUM
What kind of music do you listen to while you work?
Right now I put the ipod on shuffle and paint accordingly.
Who is your favorite baseball team? Predictions for the world series?
Freeway Series!!! It means city of Angels…right?
Blond or brunette?
Brunette
Lastly, any words of advice?
John 15:13- “Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends.”
